My Model Railroad
This album and its sub-albums contain some of the pictures I've posted relating to my model railroading hobby. Others are accessed from galleries that exist on specific pages in the TRAINS section of this website. My model railroad interest is focused on using the 'excuse' of a rolling train to create a 'living' diorama that can evoke a feeling of pleasure in an audience. It is not, for me, a place to emulate realistic railroad operation nor is it an excuse to construct items accurate to the smallest detail. My audience is not intended to be particularly well informed of railroad signals or such, either. I delight in watching a train running smoothly through mountains, over bridges, etc..
From my perspective there are two fundamental aspects to the construction and operation of any model railroad layout. The first contains the non-electrical elements including scenery, bench work, track and roadbed, etc.. The second contains all the electrical elements that make the layout come alive including train power and control, routing, lighting, signaling, etc.. A model railroad layout provides those building and/or operating it with an endless array of opportunities within these two categories. I expect my little railroad world will never be completed because it provides me with opportunities to exercise all my interests.
