G O D
This page will be quite short because I've only a single, simple thought on this topic. The issue of the tension between science and religion is simply an issue of each discipline's failing to recognize and limit itself to its own area of concern. The concern of Science is the understanding of HOW for observable phenomena and true scientists are skeptical. The concern of Religion is the understanding of WHY for observable phenomena and the truly religious eschew skepticism. While there is some small overlap between the two disciplines, when scientists attempt to answer WHY for observable phenomena they can easily overstep into the area of Religion and when religious ideas and practices attempt to deal with the HOW of things they overstep into the realm of Science. Those who recognize this differentiation between HOW and WHY when struggling to understand observable phenomena in our universe will have no trouble with acknowledging the existence of GOD. Those who confuse the two will cause themselves internal and, possibly, external conflict. "Science without religion is lame; religion without science is blind." - Albert Einstein
